What is cool n quiet? edit checked AMD site, not much info there, I guess some kind of speed throttling ie power managment (slowing down cpu) Guess would be useful, when you play games at 100%, doing light windows work reduced right down.
It does, often causing BSOD's etc.Amp34 said:I always thought having C&Q on while overclocking mucked up your system?
BTW you will also need to set your power option to minimum power management to get it to work.
raja said:Hi,
I have an amd 4800, you can get to around 2700 on air, I use corsair 3500ll pro.
If you can overclock though and can get a good stepping the 3800 can do the same for half price!
I think the 4800 only really has the slightest advantage under phase, highest I've seen with around 3.167 ghz, compared to around 3ghz for a 3800, so perhaps it's a no brainer.
For the price of a good 3800, you'd have nearly enough left over for a second hand phase change.
One thing I have noticed is that Oblivion is very sensitive to overclocks, I have to come back to 2.53 ghz to get it stable with HDR. Anything higher giver droputs to windows and even ingame lock ups............

will do, currently have a Oppy 175 at 3ghzraja said:depends on stepping and motherboard then I suppose......
Let me know what stepping you get and how high you can go please....
