AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 3.00GHz v Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 LGA775 2.66GHz

You can't feel the difference between a C2D, a C2Q, a phenom or a X2 as long as they are all at say 2.6Ghz in gaming and 99% of applications, you just simply can't and anyone that says otherwise is upset about their epeen.

That's certainly not my experience. I've had a 4400x2 @ 3.03ghz and going to an e6300 @ 3.2ghz I noticed QUITE a large difference in gaming.

Well i've always loved AMD's and ATI cards, so i kinda feel like im betraying them by having Nvidia and Intel.

I just want to find out if getting a AMD/ATI is at all possible in terms of a upgrade for high end gaming.

From your sig it looks like you already have a C2D E6400?

If so it's probably not worth upgrading even if you are surely it's cheaper to get E8200 since you don't need a new mobo?

Not when you use the word Never.

Well if you contextualise my post properly, you would have read that AMD would never win across their current range without taking price into account. But yeh, lets jump at single words instead and infer a lot of stuff which simply isnt there.

Actually its you who should have not used such a world in the current context to begin with because we already know that AMD`s current range is no match for the current intel`s.

You should have been more pacific as to not sound like the many who say that AMD cpu`s will never beat Intels.

The fact that i posted at all means that your statement can be taken many ways when you could have clarified things more from the start instead of having to say what you mean in a reply to your statement. "Why are you ignoring the price? AMD current range will never win in absolute performance terms.
Fixed

It does not need to rely on context & less chance of misinterpretation.

*Sigh* When the OP clearly states an athlon x2 in the question, the context is obvious. If you misinterpret what i said, well frankly...

Well my first reply means it was not obvious that YOU were only commenting on the current range as if you have never seen flippant remarks of the very sort.

If you want to leave room for people to misinterpret because you totally rely on context to the OP as if all post from people there after follow such context which also means having to read every post before replying & ignoring the current climate between brands as if no one ever says that brand A will never be in front again & like they it didn't mean never but current & having the chance of someone misinterpreting & you having to reply to clarify then continue by all means.

But i like try & say what i mean the first time around & try not to totally rely on context if possible so to lesson the chance of misinterpretation.

If there is a possibility of something being taken the wrong way then someone will.

Oh here we go. Sorry Final8y, but it was pretty obvious what he was saying. We all know that until the Conroe, AMD were pretty much on top of things, It's common knowledge on these forums.

Only you took what he said the wrong way.

Since Conroe, AMD have been playing catch up, and they are struggling to do so.

So, Like their ATI stock, All they are doing is trying to pick up the lower end of the market.

Yes i did & that's my point & where there is one there is another & another.
He could have worded so i didn't.

Yep but you still see comments from people saying that they will never retake the crown & they don't just mean the current range.
And that goes for the CPU & the GPU.
