Behind you... Naked!
Im looking to buy another Laptop.

My current ones are :-

Window 8.1 =
Clevo W650SF / I7 @ 3.2Ghz / 16GB 120GB mSata + 2x1TB Hybrid in RAID0

Linux =
HP DV6 / I7 @ 1.6 / 8GB / 240GB Samsung SSD + 1.5TB HD

The Linux PC is running ATI Graphics and is great for Linux, however, it does get a tad sluggish when playing high end games, even though the screen rez is 1366x768 and so I am looking for a replacement for that machine.

The Clevo has awful keyboard and as it is dual graphics, I have not been too happy with it under Linux.

I am looking for options, and I am even considering an AMD based Laptop.

Anyone have anything tothrow into the mix here to give me an idea on what models to consider?

WOW, I take it no one recommends them then?

Hi FatRakoon,

Looks like that's a unanimous "no comment" from the world !

You have to cast your mind back good few years to re-call any high end laptop with an AMD/ATI gpu,,,

There is plenty in the mainstream segment, £299-£499 area.

Our recommendation would obviously be to consider one of the Gigabyte or AORUS units available at OcUK :-)

Had to reply to you with something, sorry its not much use !

All AMD laptops are gimped. They have good mobile CPUs, but I never see a laptop run them at the higher TDP, and even worse plenty use single-channel memory.

The safe bet is on Intel.

LOL no no no, not really.

Its more of a feeling that no one would recommend them?

I mean, my main LAotops... in fact ALL my laptops bar one are Intel based, and the only one its well old a 1.8Ghz Dual core that I only bought because it was spec-wise identical to an intel of the very same ... erm, everything? - they were identical but one was intel the other AMD and I just wanted to compare them really.

But no, its not at all a "no Comment" reply. Sorry if thats what it looked like.

Its been a short while yes.

Tue, but nothing actually floats my boat enough to want it... I have 3 I7 systems and I am willing to cut out a huge chunk of the CPU speed in order to gain GPU speed. As I said about the 1.6Ghz I7 - its fast enough for 90% of my needs but the GFX is failing when it comes to a few games.

If only I could get Linux running happily onto either of the other 2 Laptops then I would be peachy. But the dual GFX seems to be beyond me, or it.

Im looking at the Gigabyte range right now actually...
Not thought of AORUS TBH so I will look at those too!

Its fine, reminds me of something I said top the wife on our wedding night.

"Sorry its not much, 3 inches is all I got!"
She was happy with it being that wide!
