AMD Bulldozer equivalent?

tbh if yer only going for bully performance stick with the 955.

the I5 2500 sandy is what yer wanting tho if going intel. But atm tbh I would wait as ivy on the doorstep lots cpu's should pop up on the members market.

Bulldozer won't beat a 955 clocked at most things, save video encoding, and only just then ;)
 
2500k I would say, seems to be a good processor, wait for IvyB though, might be more tempting, or you could get a i5 second hand as people upgrade to IvyB ;)
 
2500k, unless you do heavily threaded stuff then get the 2600k. Or if you can wait then get the ivy bridge equivalents in (i think) july.
 
I was in the same potion as you. The truth is the 955, when overclocked, is a pretty decent gaming chip even by today’s standards. In terms of upgrades AMD took Bulldozer and parked themselves in a cul-de-sac with nowhere to go (Let’s hope Windows 8 is its way out).

IMO if your existing ram is at 1.5v, spend £250-£300, on a 2500k and motherboard overclock it to 4.6 - 5.0 GHz and you will really see what the rest of your current rig can really do!

What does your 955 currently not run? I don't see much changing over the next while, you'd be as well save the cash at the moment if there's nothing it struggles with.
 
The 955 is still a capable CPU. But if you want something better without spending a fortune then the only choice is 2500k. Ivy will only be around 6% faster as it is merely a die shrink.

Bulldozer was a massive letdown, so don't even think about going there :(
