You don't need to do a full reformat.
But don't let facts get in the way of brand preference.
The FX6100 goes for around the £50 to £70 mark on the famous auction site. FX8320 CPUs are £110 brand new,and probably a decent amount under that secondhand.
However,you get a better cooler for like £30 to £40 to overclock the FX6100. HWBOT says around 4.4GHZ for the FX6100 is an average overclock:

I honestly can't see you getting £70 for the 6100, it was a poor cpu when launched, I'd get a 8320, although you won't see a huge improvement especially if you aren't overclocking, something the fx's do well.
If you up your budget I'd recommend a chipset change to z87 and a 4670k.
