AMD Display Driver Install Failed.

Yeah it must have because every time I uninstall it after the restart it just installs them again anyway for some reason! Just finished installing AMD again and the same still occurs, everything installs fine apart from the display driver.

Ok, Drastic measures. are you able to do a complete fresh reinstall of Windows?

That might be your last option. if you do i suggest all the way through the instillation process that you disconnect your computer from the internet.

From the moment that you turn your computer off and put in the Win 7 DVD; disconnect it, don't reconnect it until you have the AMD drivers installed, and have gone through steps one again

#1 Click on start >> search ' Device Installation Settings ' run it and copy the settings in the screen-shot
And one more system reboot.

If that doesn't do it, i don't know.

I'm not sure I still have the windows disc that's the problem and is there anyway I can do a system restore to just get my old driver back? It only lets me go back to tomorrow night for some reason.

You could try going back to the earliest system restore that you have. it might work.

Again, disconnect your internet until your sure its worked. if it has.

Im really confused why this isn't working for you... I had the same thing yesterday when reinstalling 14.2....

All I did was make sure driver update are turned off in windows...go in control panel and remove everything releated to AMD/catalyst...Run that driver cleaner from Guru3d..make sure you tick remove folers aswell... Reboot in safe mode and run it... uninstall... Reinstall 14.2 and it worked fine.

The problem for me is every time I restart that Video Controller driver starts installing again even though I've just uninstalled it! It lets me uninstall it in safe mode but I've just tried to install 14.2 in safe mode and it failed detection or something. If I could stop that Video Controller driver from installing I think it would work!

I think that driver that keeps installing itself could be windows' own get-you-running 'Standard VGA Adapter' driver. If you don't get the option to delete the drivers when you uninstall them through device manager would confirm just that. It shouldn't be anything to worry about - if it wasn't there you wouldn't be able to see anything (blank screen).

Hanging on to see how this is resolved ;)

It must be as I've just tried disabling it to see if that worked and yet again when I restart, soon as I log in it just installs again. "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter" is what it's called.

Yep, that's the default driver, you can't get rid of it. If you could you'd end up without a display altogether.

I'm glad to see others scratching their heads now. It isn't funny, I just want to see this solved for you.

I'VE DONE IT! You wouldn't believe how relieved I am right now, 10 hours I've been trying to fix this! Thanks so much for everyone's help, really appreciate it.

The funny thing is I don't really know why it's worked this time either, I haven't really done anything differently!

M8 I'm really chuffed for you. I've read elsewhere that maybe 2 or 3 attempts to install eventually worked, but this has been a flippin marathon. Nice one!!
