AMD equivelant of a GTX680 ?

ok noob question

the power inputs for my GTX680 has 2 6 pin inputs, however this 280x is slightly dfferent and has 1 8 pin input and 1 6 pin input. Do i need to make sure the extra 2 pins on the 280x are plugged in ? reason i ask is that the extra 2 pins are having trouble fitting in.

I realise i've probably used the wrong terminology and the above sounds like gibberish but i've only had 2 hours sleep so bare with me.

if you look closely at the 6+2 pin (thats what the cable is called that has 6 pin with 2 pin coming off that lets it turn into 8pin)
There should be some plastin groves/cut outs that show you the way it has to be connected nicely and ofc make sure its oriented correctly.

So yeah one 6+2 pin(8 pin) and one 6pin for the card

Im a bit fed up with my GTX680, i've had issues with it for both BF3 and BF4 where i always have micro stutters regardless of graphical settings or drivers used.

So id like to know if i sold my GTX680 what would be the AMD equivelant to replace it with ? i don't want to spend any extra money other than the money i make from the sale of the 680 so keep that in mind.

Thanks

Your GPU should eat bf3 and bf4. They are very intensive on CPU when in multiplayer, it is probably your CPU holding you back.

ok so i've been testing them both with BF4 and there is no two ways about it, the AMD card is waaaaaaay smoother, no stutters whatsoever and everything generally feels crisper.

they both get the same peak frame rate but the GTX 680 still has the stuttering in both single player and multiplayer, really poor.

no idea whats causing it, done fresh installs of windows, latest drivers... it just stutters and isn't smooth.

no idea why id get these issues with it when other people have no issues with the 680.

Nice to see you fixed your issue, even if it did mean swapping sides! ;)

Plus that extra 1GB ram may still be useful in the future so it's not a complete 'side grade'.

Thanks, my friends identicle system (only with a 6950) runs both Battlefield games smoothly whereas mine stutters non stop.

O.o

The GTX680 lunched < 2 years ago so yours must still be in warranty, if it's failing to do what a 6950 can then it's faulty, RMA it and get it replaced, simples.

Well that pretty much confirms it then, RMA the 680 and then sell the replacement (680).

I run the latest drivers on a MSI 680 Power Edition (basically a lightning with refreshed bios) and don't have any problems at all in BF4. Just to add my 2p in there, as others have mentioned could it be CPU? BF4 seems pretty heavy on the CPU afterall.

Runs perfectly with the amd card so not sure how it could be the CPU ?

There are literally hundreds of posts on countless forums with nvidia users suffering from stuttering with BF4 so it's not limited to just me.

Defo a BF4/driver issue which effects some and not others.

The card is fine, every other game works flawlessly with it. It's a driver/bf4 issue

Not trying to be rude, but if its only affecting you and not other 680 owners using the same driver that should imply it's an issue with your card or system HW/SW and as you have changed O/S that pretty much rules out SW. Aside from a HW conflict I can only see it being a GPU issue that simply isn't manifesting in other games.

Google "BF4 Nvidia Stuttering"

Countless people are having the issue and countless people had the same issue with BF3 post 306.97 drivers.
