Hi there,

I'm new here & have recently been on a bit of a wild goose chase.

I was interested in an AMD fusion system (e350) with say a 12" screen etc.

So I looked for the Lenovo x120e - no UK release, and with Lenovos sketchy reputation recently, I'd rather not risk importing one.

Next up, DM1Z from hp. No UK release, HP UK know nothing about it, etc.

Then on to Acer's offerings. Same story.

MSI, u270 - can find the c50 powered one, not the e350 I'd like.

Why can't I find a single e350 powered 12" lappy in the UK?

Is there some restriction on the e350? Or marketing reason?

Lemme know if you have any info :D

Cheers!

what sketchy reputation?

Same reason there are hardly any sandybridge laptops out in UK currently, we always get stuff several months after everyone

I think the Sandybridge chipset issue may have had something to do with that as well don't you?

Saying that, your point is still valid and ofc when it eventually lands here we get to pay a premium on it too, just another example of the British consumer getting a bum deal.

That is poor lots of people were hoping for these models to land sub £400 and have decent price/performance.

I know that Sony are doing one of similar size maybe they will do a UK model?

Makes me glad i went corei3 when i did:) (instead of waiting etc)

I'd like to know how they're going to manage the heat in a tight little netbook case, it's hard enough keeping it cool in a HTPC/SFF case!

Nope, as there are PLENTY out and about and plenty available in USA

The only mainstream Sandy laptops in UK are the Lenovo ones that came out on 11th April and the Dells that have been out for a while now.

Samsung list a number of Sandy laptops on their UK website, but none are in the retail channels yet (not even with the large retailers)

Compare this to USA where HP, Dell, Samsung, Lenovo, Toshiba, MSI, etc all have Sandybridge laptops out in the retail channels and ready to buy.

And we really do get a shafting, the MSI GT680R that OcUK have for sale for £1318.80 (this week offer) or £1499 regular price ... costs $1499 in USA ... a nice £500+ profit for OcUK
