AMD FX Bulldozer CPU clocked to 8429 MHz - World Record

News that's worthy of its own thread me thinks. A nice achievement for AMD, and it'll definitely help sell to the enthusiast community... But for me the jury is still out. I want to see some baseline performance benchmarks and more realistic 24/7 OC figures.

But can it play Crysis?

4.5-5ghz 8 core on air. MUST RESIST. STICK TO SKIP A SOCKET MENTALITY.

Wonder what it could do with just one core enabled??

I think I would genuinely drool if I see a screenshot of one of these clocking up 10GHz lol

haha, I WAS going to shift over to Intel, but this is just too good to ignore, regardless if an i7 smashes it in coding, whatever. I think it's a great buy (unless the sub £200 price is mocking me)

what the hell? Bulldozer has been ripped so much on here over the past few months, how does this change anything? big deal it broke the world record for clock speed, but that has absolutely no relevance in the real world. let me think back in the day Prescott was breaking all the clock speed records, but the catch was it was terrible and got stomped by K8. don't understand why this news has suddenly changed the perception of the imminent Bulldozer...?

It changes things because it's the first real info we've had about BD that's been confirmed as genuine, the fact that AMD allowed this to be published means BD's getting close to release.
