AMD FX6300 Trouble overclocking

Hi,

I have the following:

AMD FX 6300 Processor
MSI 970 Gaming Motherboard
8GB DDR3 2133hz Ram
MSI Gaming Nvidia 960 Graphics Card
MSI All in One Watercooler

I am trying to overclock the processor to as close to 5ghz as possible but everytime im trying the computer fails to boot. Anybody have this setup , especially this motherboard who would like to help?

Using what voltage? I suspect you need more but I'd start of with a lower clock speed first, so you can actually boot. Although 5GHz may be a bit ambitious as most chips can only achieve around 4.5GHz which is a popular OC speed for the FX6300.

Well ive just tried 4.5ghz with 1.5v and it booted but the temps were 60c idle. That's with the msi all in one water cooler. Idle temps at stock are approx 15c.

The problem its I think , the board doesn't let you choose 1.5v , it is + or _ mv

60c? That sounds way too high, maybe the cooler isn't installed properly?

I thought that but it then sits at 15c idle and 35c load on stock settings

Try lowering the voltage a bit more, you can probably manage 4.5GHz at lower than 1.5v

Hi,

Ive managed to get 4.4ghz at 1.36v with disabling C1E, C6, Cool and Quiet

Anything over 4.4ghz and it bombs , even with 1.5v
