I'm running an old 4870, with a C2Q6600 in my work machine and I'm starting to find it getting hotter than it used to, no doubt a gradual build up on dust that compressed air can't even get out :S Anyway I 'm looking for an economic replacement, bearing in mind I'm keeping the X38/Q6600 combo so that's going to be a limiting factor. Any suggestions what my best bet would be? I'm thinking the AMD cards for this because they seem to have better GPU compute and the card is going to be used for GPU accelerated programs and the price drops are an added bonus. I'd appreciate any advice.

good lord, that 7850 is so tempting!! what sort of upgrade would i be looking at from the 2x 5830's in xfire. obviously far better tessellation is a given of course
