AMD GPU14: Presentation used during the live stream event from Hawaii

Hello again everyone!

Here is the link to the actual presentation that was used during the live stream event from Hawaii today. It has lots of information for you...we hope it will help you stay up to date with us.

https://amd.app.box.com/GPU14publicpreso

There is also a slide on the BF4 bundle! :D

Enjoy!

Is there anywhere we can re-watch the stream? Some of us had to go to bed and would like to see the mantle api/bf4 presentation?

Don't bother IMO. I watched it last night, it didn't mention anything about the pricing of the 290X. 90% was about the audio innovations and technologies. As interested the possibility of no longer require getting a dedicated sound card and better positional sound than the current available emulated 7.1 for sound cards, they didn't really show much about graphic side of things.

They did mention the 280x (or was it 280?) is gonna be $299, so there's good chance that the 290 would come at under £400, and the 290X at a bit over the £400, if we can use 280's pricing for guessing the price gap.

hope your lot fired those presenting the whole thing. most boring thing i have ever layed my eyes on. i know they not supposed to be full of action or comedy but god damn the people who were doing the commentary were possibly some of the worst in the entire world. you could have picked random people from forgotten tribes and they would have done better.

that stream made amd look like a clownshoe operation.

Yeah it was pretty pants. I did laugh when they touched on TressFX before they'd even really kicked off...I turned it off half way. Was there anything note worthy from it? Besides it apparently being 'faster' in BF4?

Well, I know it's pretty much just a reminder of what we already know, but watching the presentation reminded me of how most of the big developers are now working closely with AMD (most probably due to AMD bagged the consoles). And together with GCN, are there are still good reason go with Nvidia other than PhysX? Particular if they no longer offer superior hardware like they use to? Also their

I'm just analysing this from an objective perspective.

There might be plenty. Mantle seems like it could be a huge game changer, and I'm hoping it will be. But hyping up last nights presentation to then not show any real performance comparative seems a bit like they don't really have much to show for it at the moment. Time will tell. That and the masses dribbling and hyping up the prospect / imaginary numbers.

My concern is however more to do with EA and DICE people doing the presentation with AMD (or should I say sleeping with each other? :p), plus the number of positive quote from other developers (yea I know I know typical marketing approach, but still...). I'm more worried about AMD and their new buddies relationship side of things is gonna affect Nvidia.

I'm certain it won't be long before someone comes and brush it off as a non-issue like the 2GB vram discussion, but seriously though...I don't get where people get the baseless confident claiming things like this won't matter at all...as if they all are time-travelers from the future.

At least Nvidia still have Ubisoft with them...anyone remember what other big developers are also with Nvidia?

Hi LtMatt (everyone),

I'm about to share a link to the presentation used by Johan Andersson (Tech Director at Frostbite). It covers Mantle, Battlefield 4 and Frostbite. Give me a min...:)

Great thanks Sam.

Are you replacing Thracks around here now? He was never about much anyway so always good to have a more active AMD presence on the boards.

There's certainly never anyone here from Nvidia, unless you count Lamb Chop. :p

Thanks for all the links and info Sam.

Biggest question is when does the NDA end to allow the benchmarks to flow and the full stats/pricing? So far it seems as if the NDA date has an NDA!!!!

You still need a dedicated sound card for maximum sound quality. The only thing the True Sound chip will do is handling the DSP functions of things like AstoundSound.
