AMD head of Computing and Graphics steps down

Money doesn't solve everything. They had money before they completely cut back on their manufacturing process and stopped hand crafting their CPU design after Athlon 64. Bad people make bad decisions with or without the dollar to back it up

If someone like Samsung took over I am sure the decision making processes would change and the deadwood disposed of.

I don't think they sat back on their laurels. They tried to innovate and do things differently, the same as they did with the Athlon 64, but unfortunately they got it wrong and continued to flog a dead horse for a generation.

It's already been happening, Intel and NVidia haven't cared about AMD's prices for a long time and have been pricing their products however they wish.

FX8350 is AMD's equivalent to 4770K yet Intel charge nearly 100% more.

290X is AMD's equivalent to GTX980 yet NVidia charge nearly 100% more.

AMD are doing such a brilliant job in driving Intel's/NVidia's prices down. lol

Just LOL.

Just LOL.

What's funny? until AMD release a new high end product their only equivalent to GTX980 is 290X. 290X will cost a great deal more to manufacture than GTX980 (bigger more complex die, 512bit bus etc) and yet due to a number of operational factors they're selling it at less than half the price of GT980. Is it any wonder that AMD are a company in crisis?

How are both Intel and NVidia able to sell a cheaper-to-manufacture products at nearly twice the price of AMD's offerings? it all comes down to R&D where AMD have fallen way behind, both Intel and NVidia are able to offer superior products that cost less to make whilst AMD struggle to break even with what they can offer.

980's are the price they are because there is no equivalent. 290x's are closer to the 970 than the 980, and shock the 970s are about the same price too. But i guess that doesnt support mmj_uk's argument :p

Seems like all these nvidia fan boys are like thoose doom sayers! THE END DAYS ARE NEAR! Predicts end of the world by end of the year. Rolls on next year and rolls eyes.

Can't see AMD going under in the immediate future - they are in much better shape than they were this time last year and crucially have regained investor (and other third party) confidence for the most part.

their share price is lower now than last jan, they really need to pull something out the hat soon.

If Zen utilizes VISC and Pirate Islands has all the fancy power regulation tech 2016 could be a monster year for AMD. I realise that's wishful thinking but wouldn't it be amazing...

This, but bring it forward a year. we have been waiting too long as it is ! :(

I think it's pretty clear AMD weren't willing to dump Zen on an old process given the massive lead time between announcement and release.
