Hi,

Wondering if any of you guys know of a fix to help me out. I have an old pc that has a ATI 4850 Gfx card in it. My kid upgraded to windows 10 on it, but the cards not supported and the Gfx are crazy like writing missing and in strange colours. I know the card is capable of working its just the lack of support. Does anyone know any drivers that would install and work? maybe modded drivers from somewhere?

Makes me kinda cross when ur forced to upgrade due to lack of support only.

forced to upgrade? who forced your kid to upgrade to windows 10? Win 10 even has a check to make sure your computer can handle it.

Thanks for the useful comment pfft!

Yes forced to upgrade the windows 10 installed after a restart. I know so many ppl I talk to that have not wanted w10 and its installed after restarts

It can happen if you're not careful with clicks. Simplest solution is to roll back to win 7, or if you want to stick on win 10, stick a cheap second hand card in there.

Yeah that is an option - just thought some smarty pants would have just modded an ati driver somewhere to make 4800 series work

Windows10 should download the appropriate Legacy driver for the 4850 without issue. Even my old 3870 was picked up and installed fine. (Strange that amd don't make the win10 legacy drivers available to download separately though) For the 1950pro I had Download it's last driver (catalyst 10.2 I think it was) and install it in compatibility mode and it ran fine in windows 10 as well.

it was working ok for about a month - then suddenly its gone **** up, Stuff like where you would see writing in a box there's nothing, when u move over icons and stuff they disappear - strange colours on everything.

Try reinstalling the legacy drivers, but could be the card is eventually giving up the ghost.
