hi,

Anyone know when we can expect motherboards that support ddrII.

upgrading machine and will cut costs if a chance to improve performance is incoming soon.

cheers

what about current beyond pc3200 ddr 1 ram? can most boards handle these? i bought some G.skill pc4000 ram from ocuk recently, and have no means of testing it yet. will it be ok on a budget epox board ?

In theory, pc3200 is 200 FSB ram.

Anything over that is regarded as an overclock, as thats the max stock speed of AMD CPUs.

I would say gskill on an epox board should go well over 200 FSB.

Obviously you'd have to overclock to get pc4000 RAM to work at pc4000 speed. It'll only run at pc3200 otherwise. If you don't plan to o/c you'd be better of with pc3200 as it'd have tighter timings. Using pc4000 at pc3200 speeds would work best if you tighten the timings.
