Hardware
2 x Samsung 226BW monitors
AMD 4200 / 4500 (this is how it displays itself in device manager
AMD A400 CPU (with the built in graphics processor)
I’m trying to enable multi monitor support on the above hardware via DVI and HDMI, however this gives me one display (desktop) and one blank display (the extended one). I can move my mouse over to the blank display, however I obviously can’t see it. Attempting multiple monitors via DVI and VGA works correctly, however the monitor connected to VGA doesn’t allow the native resolution (very annoying) hence why I’m wanting to do it via HDMI and DVI.
Things I’ve tried (HDMI and DVI):
-Switching over the cables; no change in the monitor that is blank, inferring that this isn’t a cabling issue.
-The MB doesn’t have any type of display port, so I’ve not got it connected incorrectly!
-installing the driver for the monitor(s)
-Disabling one monitor and re-enabling it – this makes no difference
-Changing it from ‘extend display’ to ‘Duplicate display’ this gives me a desktop on both screens, again (I think) inferring that this isn’t a hardware / cable issue
-Changing settings via the windows built in ‘Screen resolution’ options
-Changing settings via the AMD CCC
-Disabling the built in Graphics support within the BIOS – this just disabled the second Graphics adapter in CCC / Device Manager
Both AMD CCC and Windows can see the monitor, recognise that it’s connected and allow me to change the resolution on it, however I just get no display! Device manager also lists the monitors with the correct drivers and names
Any suggestions?
