AMD or Intel???

The Intel chip I was looking at was this

Intel Core 2 Duo E7300 LGA775 'Wolfdale' 2.66GHz for £103

I've got the E7200, stock speed 2.5Ghz and its a cracking chip, lovely and cool, overclocks easy.

Sad to say, as I prefer AMD as a company - but Intel does have the faster CPU's - but it does depends a bit on your budget.

AMD Phenom X3 Tri Core 8750 2.40GHz (Socket AM2) - Retail = £105.75

Could be worth a look at the Phenom - not sure how they benchmark up against each other?

The Intel E7300 is pretty good. What budget do you have for the system? Do you need everything or is it an upgrade with some other parts?

This is the kind of setup I was looking at

Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 PC2-6400C5 TwinX (2x2GB)
Intel CPU I think from what you guys have said
MB I am not sure on
9800 GTX but I have heard some ppl say that the ATI are pretty good. Always been a Nvidia man myself

Some bits I already have like monitor, HDD

How much do you want to spend on a CPU?

If you can't stretch to Phenom II with your budget, you kind of have to go intel really - they are leaps and bounds ahead against the old Athlons/Phenom Is.
