Ok atm i have an intel and i am going to build a new rig when i get the money. a lot of people tell me that AMD are better than Intel is this true? i will sped about £100 on my new processor. any comments will help thanks

I think that AMD offer very good performance for the money.

In some benchmarks I saw it was close to the Intel Core 2 Quads but with a lower price tag.

What do you have currently and what do you plan on using your new system for? AMD provide better price/performance at the budget end until the i5 and then its intel all the way.

atm i dont know my spec as i am at college but i am looking to spend about £350 - 400 on a new rig. I want to use it for gaming and college work.

i already have a custom build pc but my parents have now split up and im going to put my current pc at my dads, so i doubt i will be taking any thing out of it.

Intel make the better CPUs atm, but AMD offer better budget chips. For your needs an AMD will be great.

It all really depends on how much you are looking to spend.

If you are on a budget then I'd say go with AMD, and if money isn't a problem, then go down the Intel route.

::edit::

if you are only looking to spend up to £100 on the CPU, then I'd say you should definitely go with AMD.
