Air Cooled Phenom II 960T unlocked to 6 core, running it at 4.03Ghz with 1.45v

I was thinking about upgrade to Piledriver FX-8 Eight Core 8350 once the price drops!!

What air cooler do you use, I have a 1100t and struggling to get 4ghz

But when I try overclocking I can only get up to 3.6ghz which is sort of stable but will sometimes blue screen. I've tried upping the volts and it doesn't make a difference. Might just be a terrible motherboard.

What board and cooler are you using?, I have the same CPU and mine is running at 4.00GHz stable.

If it's a C2 stepping chip getting over 3.6GHz is a bit tricky.

just upgraded from an athlon 240 to a phenom 955, even though its not a new CPU it's still a massive jump from what I had before

I have a Athlon X4 630......running at 3.4ghz or 3.5 ghz depending on how I feel, its been running like that for 3 years.

But thinking of jumping to Piledriver

for a quick cheapish upgrade yeh. 15% increase at stock then you can Oc them like mad better ipc and cooler.

I got my 8320 to 4.5ghz without trying

Could probably go higher on the core as the temps are all very good however not really got round to messing about with it - prefer to use the machine these days rather than tinker with it.

I was going to get an i5-2500K system off OcUK following a spec-me thread back in the spring time. Then I lost both my desktop PC, laptop PC, monitor, boiler (£270 to repair), all in the month of June. So my 2500K plan therefore went down the drain. Someone at my work was recently selling an FX-4100/mobo/ram bundle, so I bought that in the end, gathered up some old PC parts to build the new machine. Stuck a GTX 260 and OCZ 600W 80+ bronze in there. I'm fairly happy now as I can play all of the games that I used to be able to play, including the new Alice game which is spec-heavy. It's not future-proof by a long shot though, so when my luck improves, I'll be looking at getting the new AMD line of CPUs due next year I think. Oh, and if you search Google images (with the auto-expanding page), it kills the FX-4100!

I stable with core voltage of 1.45v in the bios the core running at 20x200. I found that I had to play with a few other voltages to get system stable.

Try setting your memory to 2T may help you

I've come closest with 20x200 but when stability testing my screen freezes so I have to restart my pc

Ive changed my ram settings to 8 8 8 24 1T and it seem a lot more stable at lower 3.8ghz
So it's just the screen freeze when stability testing now, although I played BF3 today for 2 hours no problems at all

I'm currently rocking (and have been for at least a couple of years now) an AMD B75, 4th core unlocked and overclocked @ circa 10%. This is coupled to a mighty 5830 that I picked up new for £55, MSI 970 board and 4gb of xms3.

Quite honestly does the job well enough @ 1920x1080, especially considering what the system is worth overall. I am now getting temtped to replace the cpu, through nothing other than the fact it's been in there for so long.

I have a bad board, that's probably why. It's only a 700 chipset cheapo.
