I brought a AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 965 Black Edition 3.40GHz (Socket AM3) last night. And cannot decided what Ram to get.

Budget is about £120 4Gb preferred.
I got confused when looking on the Sites memory page as most Dual Kits say Intel on them.
I have been using Corsair for the last 6 years so I would prefer Corsair but it does not have to be.
I will be overclocking the CPU
CPU will be watercooled
Gaming - Yes
Mobo not brought yet but it will either be Gigabyte GA-790FXTA-UD5 or Asus Crosshair III Formula AMD 790FX. Not sure but the Gigabyte has more connectivity on it. Help deciding would also be nice :)
Is this Chip C2 or C3 also.
Thank you.

Get the 790FTXA.
i5 kits will work on AM3, however it's best off to buy 1600MHZ RAM with better timings.
Thirdly, have a look on the information from the Etailer, C3 versions are 125W.

Would this be ok... Geil Value 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (GV34GB1600C8DC) [GV34GB1600C8DC] HERE

I bought a 965 125w, the ud5 and corsair 4gb 16000mhz kit xms3 kit.

Got it all last week, also got a titan fenrir cooler, a lot smaller than my tuniq tower 120, fits a hell of a lot better in my Antec 300.

I am going to post up on overclocking forum later with my results.

I currently have it at 3.8ghz stick volt and NB on 2600mhz I think, with a notch up on volt.

I got this:

Seems the price has gone up a fiver already.

Cheers for the help.
Wes and Oxy I was looking at both of those kits. I wonder if they will be in "This week only" tomorrow :D

oxy did you add more paste than normal or just a pea sized amount like a lot do ?

theres a lot of people who say spread a thin amount on the cooler and some on the cpu.

im fitting my titan tomorrow so would be handy :D

I tried the pea size route and it ended up mosting ending on my spreader lol.

I got frustrated and put a lot of the paste on the cpu, then just placed the cooler on top, wiggled it about a bit "to spread it".

Now get idle of 23C and max of 46C under extreme stress test load. This is at 3.8ghz.

My prayers have been answered :D
Load of RAm in this week only

I was told to avoid OCZ for AMD when I specced my build to OCUK members. I was told to get corsair, which I did and haven't had a single problem.

well i did the peas and added a little more :D

temps are great and loving the fenrir

only got up to 3.7 (ibt stable) yet but ldle 29c and load not more than 45c and that was trying at 3.8. cant seem to get that stable though which is bugging me :(

ive tried upto 1.4750 v with cpu at 3.8 but it wont even start one run of ibt it just locks up :( would anyone run at 1.5v 24/7 or not worth risk ?

ive not bumped any of the other volts yet on the northbridge as was just trying to get max on multi first then go from there.

any pointers ?

I have to up v on nb to get 3.8ghz stable with cpu v on stock.

Tommorrow I'll write all my bios settings down and we can help each other. I noticed a lot of different when I increase NB frequency, but that needs a notch of volt.
