Competitive prices.

Anyone looking to buy, read this thread for some reviews.

These will go into your current AM2+/AM3 motherboard providing the BIOS is compatible (many are, check the manufacturer website for updates). If you're looking for a new board to clock these chips (best I've seen so far is 4.1GHz stable on the 1090T), look at this section of the OcUK website. Highlights include the Asus Crosshair IV Formula at £175. It's a little more pricey but you get some nice extra features and an awesome colour scheme if that's your thing!

Ditto, at that much less it's an interesting prospect.

Also noticed OcUK have reduced the price of the Crosshair IV formula by a fiver, good work guys, that's well in line with everyone else now.

Bit tech are massive intel fanboys mate, dont be surprised....... They seem to have missed a lot of the positives, IE drop in upgrade, great price not far off I930 etc etc etc..

that is a kickass price compared to Intels dead over priced £800+ 6cores...
I wonder why they're so cheap.

maybe your asking the wrong question, why are intel so expensive!

it doesnt quite match up in terms of performance in comparison to intels offerings but that reflected in the price and the amd comes up trumps, no brainer really. but do expect prices across the board to drop me thinks :)

If I get one of these do you think it's worth it from my current 940, and will I be able to tell in terms of performance.

I'm very interested in these, although there is no new bios for my board yet anyone know if there will be one?

This is why they're so cheap:

I were excited, then I looked up some benchies and realised why they cost so much.

An I5 750 at stock speed is much faster in games.

Seriously, this graph is just dire:

Intel are currently more expensive because they are so much better.

I really doubt very much the pricing has anything to with current gaming performance.

Real multi thread software were that CPU is aimed at.

And a cheery picked game bench deserves another.

^^ Umm, note the i7 930 results at 4.0Ghz?

They have both benchmarked at stock clocks then at roughly 4.0Ghz.

bhavv wherever that graph came from, they've been rigging their tests, all the other results in games that I've seen haven't really taken advantage of the CPU, and quite often a 955 or 965 beats out an i7...

Given intel have been sued for forcing a market before I wouldn't take anything that weighted towards them seriously.

I'm happy with my 920, and don't personally have the cash to upgrade everything again, but hopefully AMD can start competing in the higher high end CPU market now.

tempted to replace my pII x2 720BE with one of these , but if only gigabyte would release a bios update now for the ma790x-ud3p lol
