i bought one a couple of days ago, and it always seems to run so hot !, right now i have only a web browser open, and its at 51 degrees and rising, when i play games it reaches 70 +, the fan on it is running at around 1163 Rpm all of the time, (my back fan however, is running faster.) so i am told.

Is there a reason that this model runs so high ? or is this just a fluke?

if it's the stock cooler u should try resitting it, if that doesn't work, u should get a better cooler as it's summer

Try set the fan speed through the BIOS, I found AMD Overdrive to be a bit buggy when reading and controlling fan speeds.

i cant find a way to set the fan speed in the bios, there is something called "Q fan feature" but the fan speed remains the same regardless of whether that it set to Auto or Turbo.

Same thing here. Mine is stuck at 1300 rpm. Q fan never kicks in and it makes no difference when disabled. My cooler fan's listed as 1300 rpm anyway so it looks like it defaults to max speed

the stock fan is annoying when it spins up, not something id want lol. id recommend changing it for something a bit more substantial with a 92 or 120mm fan

Noise is not really my main concern (Live next to a main road), i'm more worried about finding out if this is a broken cooler, or if something more sinister is afoot..., Tbh it making a noise would be a nice change round about now.

Mine was running a high temp like yours, I had the 965, I found selecting 'balance mode' in the windows power setting and Q-fan to silent dropped temps. if your power mode is in high performance then the chip is always on and running hotter. Try the balanced option in the control panel power settings.

Instead of silent in the q-fan option also try optimal or performance or disable coolnquiet.

Edit: I decided to fit a Thermolab baram heatsink with single 120mm fan and temps dropped from idle at 50 to 28.

My stock fan use to hit close to 6000 rpm when at full load playing Crysis with a 5670 512mb card and kept it at a constant 52C roughly iirc.

Something is very wrong there with yours!

Hiya, dont know if this is any help or not but I had a problem similar to this on an old board i used to have, so am not sure what the exact setting was called. It was something along the lines of cool and quiet settings but it was not called that. Anyway when i changed one of my coolers I had a similar problem to you, IE the fan not spinning up to full speed. In the end after playing around I found out that i had to recalibrate the PWN feature in the Bios to the fan and after this basically had full speeds on the fan available again.
Sorry its a bit of a vague description as my memory is terrible at the sec and I havent got access to the board to check what the feature was named. Looked at the website for your board and is there a setting for the Fan Xpert feature of this board, if so it may need to rerun callibration for the PWN of the fan. Just guesses though as not used that board.
Dave.
