ok ive got a am2 mobo alreayd and im going to be getting a phenomso dont try and bring up thje intel argument

im goign to be overclocking but i want the fastest phenom possible....

9850 or 9950

the 98, has better reviews on ocuk and overclocks more form reviews ive read but if there are more phenoms in pipeline i dont know about or im wrong id *** to know....

Be aware that on an AM2 motherboard the phenom will not run properly. It needs AM2+ to work right.

It'll run fine iirc (if the board supports it), however stuff like the hypertransport speed etc will obviously be slower.

there will be a performance hit on a am2 board but check first if your bios support phenoms, u may need to update it..

as for 9850, 9950 , how much u wanna spend? a good 9950 clock to 3ghz on stock voltage, a good 9850 clock to 2.8ghz on stock voltage, 3ghz needs alittle bump up voltage..

just remember its pot luck....

edit: the 9950 is on This Week Only Offer for £159.79 inc VAT...

You can still get the 9950 cheaper, that price is not good enough.
Edit: Get the 9850 though, many places have dropped the price to nice low levels.

I would get 9950, they look a lot better.

And you can get one for about 130quid.
