AMD Phenoms.. X4 or X6 ?

Hi there,

I am looking to upgrade my current athlon x2 to something with a bit more punch..

I was reading up on some benchmarks and this sites seems to suggest that the x4 (be) is better than the x6 comparing left for dead 2.. obviously this is only a benchmark on one game but I wondered if this was the same across the board, is it worth paying the extra £40-50 for the x6 or will the x4 do?

The plan is to future proof my rig, ive got a crosshair 3 which supports these so was hoping to upgrade the proc and leave this be for a while

Any thoughts/recommendations from x6 or x4 users... ??

Well if you're looking to future proof then go for the 1090T

Not all games utilize all cores, yet.

ive seen some of the standard 1090t go for around the same price as the x4 black editions... is it worth getting the x6 standard or x4 black edition even though its not entirely future proofing the system?? ;o

1055T easy to OC 3500-3700, 4GHz possible with a little work. I use it at 3.5GHz (250fsb) as a very quiet but capable system. Good upgrade.
