I did build it from scratch. She was powered by a pair or symmetrical drive motor assemblies I called motor packs. Each contained a CIM electric wheelchair motor and a Bosch 12V electric drill motor and accompanying planetary transmission (modified to disable the clutches), a gearbox, and two PWM-commanded motor controllers. I had three spare motor packs in the pits ready to swap at first sign of failure. I ended up needing to use one when a motor smoked in a competition round. ), and moped-style disk brakes. That was one wild ride. It's still around but needs fixing as my friend crashed it into a curb at about 30 MPH. It didn't have a speedo or tach but by method of following car we clocked it at more than 90 MPH.
