AMD Radeon 290X Kuhler mod: Taming Hawaii 'Pic heavy'.

My prolimatech cooler comes with some tiny vrm heatsinks that I don't need, you can have those if you want.

Thanks man, I appreciate the offer. Will see how I get on with the OCUK heatsink kit, hopefully be here in couple days. If they don't fit, that would be great of you to let me try them :)

Heatsinks arrived today, very fast delivery, even got some haribo :-D Thank you OCUK.

Just some sinks on VRM1 part for now as VRM2 is 50c under load seems pointless adding heatsinks...

Think it's knocked about 10c - 12c off the temp. Do these temps seem safe?

I think 90C or under for 24/7 is fine. At least thats how it was with Tahiti vrms. If you went too much past that stability could sometimes become an issue. All depends what vrms are used on the 290. The good thing about the reference cooler is the blower sits right on top of the vrms so they always remain the coolest part vs the core.

Awesome job really surprised ATI did such a odd job with their cooling this job round hopefully 3rd party coolers and manufacturers will fix it.

Cheers guys, happy with the temps now and the card overall, looking forward to testing out Mantle next. Hopefully in December.

That bracket is almost identical to mine except the side and rear part which do look nice. Only big difference is mine only cost $5 :p

It's cool that water cooling is becoming cheaper and cheaper, these all in one solutions like Antec 620 / 920 etc, do a great job for very little money.

I have and I still don't see it. I'm getting the exact same thing that Boomstick mentioned in this post:

Any ideas?

Yep, the problem for me was using a 1440P monitor with a larger font. You have to set font to 100% for GPUZ to display all tabs. If you have 125% selected etc you will see less tabs. Very weird, I hope the GPUZ author fixes it.

Just to update, the card has been running flawlessly with this cooling mod, whisper quiet and nice and cool.
