Large group of people I've spoken to are determined to just wait another few months for the 4070/4060 and 7800/7700. They've waited a while already what's a bit more, especially with the start of this cost of living crisis and such

Understandable. I was just thinking out loud really.

Have you seen the price expected of the 4070 and what it actually is spec wise ? Check out the poll thread in GPU section.

Yeah. Still waiting, I honestly believe either AMD will come in better for a mid range card (like the 7700) or a large proportion of people will hold their money and wait for price drops.
Both companies have committed to wafers and production capacity so they can set their RRP at what they want but if they don't shift, in time prices will drop.
Should probably keep chat in those threads though to be honest instead of this announcement thread

I was debating the 6900XT, I currently have a 2080 Ti, but I play at 3440x1440 - worth the upgrade? I need to upgrade a few other bits of my computer but hard times at the moment eh so GPU would be ideal for now!

It is a reasonable upgrade, but would at least wait for RDNA3, if it was me.

I love my XT but I don't think this would be much of an upgrade for you (30/35% ish?). Best to wait for the next round of cards tbh and then revaluate.

It's less than a month until the AMD announcement and even if the cards turn out to not be worth it from a price/performance perspective then at the very least the 6900XT will drop in price like a stone.

Now live in Scotland !
I’m binding a new pc been holding off 2 years now.

AMD or Intel . Was going to go full out on AMD for the first time in 20 years .

I was about to pull my wallet out and get the AMD RX 6950 XT ref for £799 but it’s now jumped back up £100. Not keen on the 2 year warranty these cars should be norm at 3 years.

Next is an Asus Tuf OC (overlockers has no stock) with an extra year warranty for a little more or less.

then get a I9 13900ks with a new 790 board.. not sure I like the 95c norm on the 7950x. At least I wouldn’t need to put the heating on this winter. Pc will only be used for Sim racing and other demanding games

Getting sweaty palms for this Asus card though I must say.
