I pre-ordered a RTX3080 last October but on receiving my queue position I have now cancelled my order. I would still be waiting in January 2021! Its utter madness, no doubt exaggerated by Covid-19. This Nvidia shortage will have many other sales knock-on effects, like complete gaming PC's, upgrade bundles (like me), the latest PC VR headsets, and many graphics intensive apps, games and sims. What about the AMD Radeons RX6800XT/6900XT GPU's? Soon to released I fear the mad rush will be for those GPU's? Maybe AMD's supply will be more readily available, who knows? Any views? Maybe just put everything on hold for 3 to 4 months?

The pandemic has nothing nothing to do with Nvidia's planning and production schedules, and most importantly - willingness to sell these cards at so low for it prices.

Once AMD takes the leading position in sales, I think the Nvidia stock will magically appear!

I have a 3080 preorder, I will try to get a 6800XT at launch and cancel the preorder but I have a feeling they will be just as hard to get, Nvidia has failed to supply the market so that puts more pressure on AMD's supply side, just look at Ryzen 5000, with Intel failing to be competitive too.

Should also be pointed out the governments lockdown policies have effectively mandated digitisation of the economy, so where a family had 1 pc for all, they now may need 1 each.

There is also the rise of middle classes in developing economies in particular China which increases demand a lot.

Based on ASUS leaks, it will be a re-run of the RTX 3080 launch as everyone who is a part of the 3080 queue, with no chance of getting one till 2021 will try to get it.

So a household can't just have 1 6800xt it needs 1 per individual ?lol

I've got a 3080 but still gonna try nab a 6800XT :D

I suspect rise in demand from the developing world is the main culprit, but it only takes 1 person per household to want a decent GPU for the demand to be enormouse, how many people down your street before would have a flagship card vs now?

The market is flooded by RX 5700 XT, RX 5700, RX 5600 XT, RX 5500 XT.

AMD only needs to stop the production of these and relocate the available wafers for the Radeon RX 6000 series | Navi 2X | RDNA 2 graphics cards.

Surely AMD need to share the process with the current crop of CPUS. The older gen GPUs arent being manufactured.

I never said that the pandemic had anything to do with Nvidia planning and production schedules, but quote:-
'While the coronavirus pandemic has had a significant impact on the world’s economy, Wallace Santos, CEO of Maingear, a Kenilworth, N.J.-based system builder partner said ''he thinks there are plenty of people who will fork over money to get a better gaming PC, particularly because so many of them are in lockdown or doing fewer social activities outside'' I certainly agree with that statement.

expect the prices high on release as stock levels will not satisfy the demand, etailers will have ya pants down and spank you hard with higher than retail prices. but of course some will pay it.
