AMD RMA

That isn't good :(.

I suppose you can argue it's down to negligence, your insurance isn't meant to over ineptitude.

I've seen people have successful claims that way.

The CPU cost me £115, the cowboy Bolton company charged me £24 to return it, and I paid £9 to post it to the Netherlands.

I dunno if AMD will send a replacement in the case of it getting lost. I know some companies like Logitech would. £50 insurance would leave me £100 down with nothing to show for it.

For the last week or two it's said that it'd arrived in Amsterdam. I checked the tracking today, and the status now says:

Your item, posted on 06/08/13 with reference xxx has been received at our international mail centre and is being made ready for despatch overseas.

?!

I called RM, they said the package has been sent back to the UK but they couldn't say why, so they're going to return it to me.

RM said this normally only happens if the address is undeliverable - but I pasted the address directly from AMD's RMA email.

If it comes back smashed up I'm a bit stuck. My streak of bad luck hasn't ended yet, I think.

Guess that explains why I've been going round in circles internally - Feel free to ping me the information in TRUST again once you re-send, and I can at least flag that it's coming :)

When I emailed to say it had arrived in Amsterdam they gave me a different address in the reply - was I given the wrong one to begin with? I sent it to:

Moduslink Solution Centre
4 Laan van de Leeuw
Apeldoorn, 7324 BD
Netherlands

But I was told this time:

AMD c/o MODUSLINK
SMAKTERWEG 100
5804 AM VENRAY
The Netherlands

I've had an email from AMD to say they've shipped a replacement. Not quite sure if they've got it, or it's lost, or what. But they're sending a new one anyway.

I contacted the retailer (known as scam here, I think), and they've flatly refused to refund the £24 redelivery costs they charged me. That's despite all my tests showing a fault, AMD tech support saying there was a fault and that I should return it to them. It's apparently because I've sent my original APU to AMD and since AMD have said they don't offer any tests reports, I can't prove it was faulty. This is despite the fact that I'd have free delivery with them, and they only charge ~£4 delivery on any product.

Not sure if there's much I can do now, it's not worth small claims court over. A word of warning when dealing with this bunch of cowboys, anyway.

Only just read this. I would do a chargeback: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/visa-mastercard-chargeback

That's a shame, what a torrid time you have had. I used to live in Bolton and would use this company a lot simply because I could drive there and meet them face to face should something go wrong.

I have heard bad stories from online purchases so can empathise with this.

I received the replacement CPU, AMD sent one without getting mine back - it looks like they gave me the old address in the original RMA. It's still in its box though as I'm waiting to get an FM2+ board.

I'll look into the chargeback thing.

Aye, or if paid via paypal do a dispute, at the end of the day AMD were prepared to accept your RMA, so you shoudn't really have to pay for that muppet retailer rejecting your RMA in the first place.

You can always contact your local citizens advice bureau, as they handle all consumer direct stuff now - 08454 04 05 06; They will probally tell you the same thing.
