Is it still looking like the 9800x3D being the gaming king for 1440p/4K?

How much of a performance change has the upgrade from 7800x3D to 9800x3D given you, as I presume it'll mostly improve the lower end FPS range along with the 1% lows.
The 9800X3D is still the best gaming CPU. The jump from the 7800X3D is pretty small. I didn't do much detailed A/B testing when I upgraded, but it can be anything from a few percent to 15% at most. I just want every ounce of CPU performance possible so had no issue paying for the small upgrade.

HUB did a recent update video on the 7800X3D vs 9800X3D. 1% lows did not improve by more than average fps.

I had my 9800x3d since Jan and its been brilliant, looking at my next upgrade now, either Monitors from 1080p ti 1440p or a new graphics card, from my old 6800xt.
But monitors there are soo many in market out there, and if I change one i feel i need to change other 2 as i Run triples for some of my games.

Would an ultrawide work? OLED looks incredible.

There are some great OLED deals on atm, both 1440p (240hz, 360hz, 500hz) and 4K 240hz monitors. Depends what you play (assume racing/flight sim for triples) and whether to expect to upgrade your GPU soon.

LOL, since when is mentioning I have something to sell (which will be on the MM funnily enough) classed as selling outside the MM, honestly... Wasn't asking for DM's

What temps are you guys seeing on bf6 mine is not been overclocked nothing has on the system other than the ram set to CL30 6000mhz don't have game boost on or x3d performance in bios not sure if I should be using those 2 settings either?

I get around mid to high 60s in bf6 that's with -20 PBO. I'd leave X3D mode off in bios

What about the MSI game mode option in bios or is that the same thing?
Its probably the "turbo" option which basically disables the CCD which doesn't have 3Dcache and tightens up a few memory timings. As the 9800x3d only has one CCD, it'll probably do nothing for you.

Ill just leave it off then seems odd MSI have a game boost option in bios and then other options in advanced overclocking say something about x3d performance I'll leave it all on default

They all do - Asus call it Turbo for example. It was there to improve games/similar workloads when the Windows scheduler/drivers were utterly crap for the 12/16 core (2xCCD) X3D chips.

The scheduler is somewhat improved now so there's probably limited use cases for that BIOS setting.

Does anyone remember what was the rough UK release price of the 9800X3D when it came out?

I'm just wondering if the 10800X3D will be what the 9800X3D was?

As I'm in 2 minds to wait, it wont be until around September that I upgrade again, so I'm wondering whether it's worth getting the 9800X3D for the current £415 price next year, or if the 10800X3D will be the same price, or something crazy like £600+?

Around £450 though there were deals across the range soon after launch IIRC so some people will have picked them up a fair bit cheaper.

Personally I'd lean towards the replacement being more expensive as the information seems to indicate a more complex CPU.

I'll be surprised if the 9800X3D replacement is a grand though you never know with today's climate i.e. what has happened with DDR5 pricing recently.

yeah i wasnt actually thinking it would be a grand was a bit tongue in cheek but in all fairness i didnt expect to see ram at the prices it is atm so you know maybe itl be the 10600x thasts only a grand lol
