AMD Ryzen 7 Eight Core 1800X Problem

Hello,

I hope someone can help this very frustrated man.

I use to have a 2500k, 16gb ram, 1080 GPU and it ran very very well. Now after several years of thinking I should up grade I got myself:

1800x
16gb ram
Gigabyte GA-AX370-Gaming K3 AMD X370

All put together fine but its SLOWER than my old rig. One game I played on old rig ran at 50/60fps on this rig its 15fps. Another game that ran over 100fps is now running at 40fps. the system seems to a bit slower at booting.

The bios is up to date. Ram running at 2900 gpu driver up to date.

I just don't know what is going on. Anyone got same set up that had these problems and fixed? to be honest any help would be welcome.

I installed new windows. Not sure what speed the cpu is running at. I will check when I get home. What speed should it be running at?

yes got a Samsung m2 and 2 x Samsung ssd's

Yes its in the top slot. I have build several Intel systems before. I am at the point where I might try and send back the MB CPU and get 6700k instead

SMT whats that and how do I turn it off? Windows 10 professional. Its not just games programes are slow at loading as well

I am going to wipe and start again but only installing bios update and amd cpu update. Then test it

Empyrion which is not optimized but still with this set up should be quicker that 8 year old 2500k cpu The other game I tried was shellshock which I always got very high fps. The fact that these games are slow to load as well has got me confused.

something is wrong i loaded 3dmark and it said my cpu 1800x but said its running 547mhz?

i did rest of bios. im going to resit the cooler and check everything is connected fully. if that makes no diffrence will do another fresh install

I feel a bit of noob really.

Seems I did not place the CPU cooler adapter correct. I thought when I attached it it did not seem a perfect fit but I had no paste so I left it thinking it was ok felt secure enough. I happen to find some paste last night and thought well I will double check this. To my shock the cooler was not even touching the CPU. What a noob. To be honest the AMD CPU attachment is about 15 parts to it. Anyway got it seated and connected correct and well that's it. Feel so stupid lol.
