I didnt think they were worth so much, i just gave away my old xp3000+ barton to a work mate complete with a motherboard (Abit M7NCD) and a gig of pc3200 ram. I now think i should have put it on the bay.

Well I hope you got oral pleasure for your generosity (assuming it was a girl).

hmm; sounds like it might have been worthwhile holding onto my XP2500m afterall;
Its got a nice Thermalright copper block to do with it too :D

I was stuck in the same situation, had a socket A 2600XP and a tight budget. You will find that second hand motherboards on the bay with an AGP port will tend to go for about £60, hardly the buy of the year.

My advice is to get a A64 chip, 3700 or 4000, I went for the 4000, and got hold of a ECS EV2 Lite Motherboard, 939 board with AGP port, average cost is about £25. Add on £35 for a A64 3700, and a few quid for a cooler, and you have a good, and cheap upgrade.

Ain't that against the rules? Anyhow those 'untested' no warranty, ain't got a mobo or ain't got the time to test, customer returns etc.. are usually keychain material. Also going by the sellers feedback i'm not wrong.

Socket-A cost the earth 2nd hand if your after one with decent clock speeds or even ones that will o/c well. For money Socket-A will cost you could get a decent 2nd hand 939 mobo and single core 939 cpu for peanuts. :)

Does anybody think the price of AMD socket 754 processors will rise as i have my old pc on top of my wardrobe doing nothing Specs are :

AMD sempron 64 3300+
winfast agp mobo
2 X 1GB pc3200 DDR ram
Sparkle nvidia 6600 256MB
generic 400W psu
160 GB HDD
8 x DVD writer (lite on)
cd rom drive
floppy drive
anodised copper case (no brand name but looks quite nice)
windows xp pro (cough)

Is it worth selling this do you think as it could get me a decent graphics card upgrade?

sorry if i have kind of stolen this thread a little. Also i forgot to mention that the work mate i gave my old barton core 3000+ to actually gave me his old pc with a intel celeron 2.8. which i sold to a friend for £60 so i am not that much out of pocket but have two friends who think i am a top geeza.

Socket 754 CPU's generally sell for more than their single-core socket 939 brethren :)
