Maybe with Bioshock Infinite (19%). Other than that, it's ~8% here and there and no change for a lot of other titles.
If it was a universal increase, then yeah.

Not bothered personally. It's the features that appeal more than a handful of fps.

I wouldn't expect to see anything else with the air cooled list. Not going to get too far on a overclocking benchmark with AMD on air, especially if the cards are a gen behind.

Give both sides some decent cooling and you still see an Nvidia tilt but with the new 980 out, its not surprising. People say most 290x's wont hit 1200+ but tbh i would imagine more would than not if they had aftermarket cooling. Both mine are stable for every day use at 1250 and have benched at 1300.

We would all be annoyed if the 980's didnt bring something new to the table, imagine if there was no push to beat the other teams card. I doubt the new drivers will touch the benches like firestrike, i never see increases from firestrike with new drivers.

Considering how the 980 is double the price of a 290X, I would expect it to perform better.

Its certainly not. If the 290/290x would have been available last december with aftermarket cooling i would have most likely be having one of those in my system instead of my current GTX 780. I just didnt want to deal with the reference cooler and after all the 780 was a good performer to at the time of purchase.

Considering how the 980 is double the price of a 290X, I would expect it to perform better.

I would expect 100% better and not slower.
