AMD to cut price of Fury GPU.

Ill see what happens in the coming months to the prices of current gen stuff.

My 670s are starting to feel a little dated and Im hoping to pick up one or 2 solid dx12 cards to last me a few years

You and others are misunderstanding me. The Fury is already priced in the middle of the 980s, so where would a reduction take it? A look at my signature would give a clue that I know how good a card it is. For the benefit of the AMD defence force, I wasn't saying that they have to reduce price, merely pointing out what a good deal they would be if the price is reduced. Christ almighty.

LOL ^

Ankle biters nipping their own :D
I prefer AMD but am no AMD defence league as my posts showing my current opinion of the Fury X show. The fact snapper owns a Fury does not change my underlying point that his statement demonstrates one of the issue I feel the majority have here on the GPU forum, even those who do purchase AMD. Namely that AMD only become a "decent purchase" when priced below (or similarly priced to) a demonstrably slower Nvidia card.

P.S. The Fury and 980 have a very similar price here on OCUK and that highest priced 980 is the same price as the highest priced Fury at £455.

I'm not sure what you all dislike about the current drivers. On release Crimson was problematic and I was quite vocal on this forum about it at the time but the current version is working faultlessly for me. I game everyday and play lots of different titles and since the issue with clocks running in the 300-600 mhz range with my Fury was resolved I've had no problems.
Admittedly I am not a dual card or free-sync user at the moment but as a regular gamer ie: one graphics card and one 60 hz monitor it's running faultlessly.
I will be moving to a 1440p or 21:9 panel this year with either Free or G-sync though so I'd be interested in knowing what it is you guy's are having problems with. That way I may be able to avoid them when the time comes.

It seems like a hoary old cliche that refuses to die. Certainly a glance at the nvidia driver thread shows that it isn't always sweetness and light in the green corner either.

nothing to avoid really, 21.9 3440x1440 freesync here and the sapphire fury tri-x is performing like a champ

If there faster then the 980ti or TitanX then I'm willing to pay £600 for it. Anything above £700 though wouldn't be worth it.

Can only hope that you're in the minority. Listen, the more you're willing to pay each new generation, the more they'll charge. Is that what you want?

agreed :D......hell 300 is stretching it with me; not that I can' afford it.....its just the insanity of it :D

I have been on 2160x1440p Freesync for about 5 months with a Sapphire Tri-X and have had hardly any issues at all. All is smooth and running very well. I'm currently running Crimson 16.1 drivers. No problems here, so far.
:)

Well my "target" spend is £200. But only if it's a big improvement over a 280X. 10-20% more FPS would /not/ cut it for me.

So if the "value" mid-range cards just get more power efficient, and don't add much FPS, then I'm considering stretching to £300. I don't want to tho. I consider that extortionate. It would be the most I've ever spent on a single component, and would set a bad precedent for me.

But I have a bad feeling that the value mid-range cards will be all about power saving, and not boosing FPS.

along with price drop, they should allow partners to costume the Fury X/Nano, i dont know if it's because they didnt have enough stock, but they can at least give some to the one exclusive to them like Sapphire.

lol mining paid for my 7870 LE - I spent 30 pounds on that card; along with my 290 only cost me 140 after selling stuff :D

like I said I can afford more; but why :D

400 is usually my upper limit, above that you're just spending stupid money and letting the companies have too much fun at your expense. I could go higher if it really seemed worth it (after all, price to performance is what really dictates it's worth) but for me 200 is good enough, 300 is pricey but what I used to think was the upper limit, 400 is my usual expected maximum spend but could only go higher if it was worth it. Stuff like the 980 being overpriced doesn't make the 980ti more attractive for example, it's only a showcase that there is a high price gap to get a real performance difference over the 970 still but the 980ti is still attractive against the competition so therefore holds it's own anyway.

If we could get top end at 400 I'd have no qualms, seems to keep going up thanks to some people being willing to spend anything though. GPU industry at the moment is just a case of getting away with what they can charge.
