whilst the die shot in that moontoast picture seems to show the Kabini soc,

The highlighted memory controller definetely shows a difference from a current kabini ddr3 memory controller.

I'm not really sure but I think it's Kabini with a single ddr4 memory controller !

Highlighted bit looks the same to me tbh. Would be surprised if they had taped out a whole new die for a DDR4 version - surely they would go for two memory controllers on the design, like with Phenom II?

Can't imagine DDR4 improving Kabini anyway, though - would just add to the system build price to use DDR4.

Although the die shot of the new teaser is poor, there are some further changes here and there around the whole die, it could be mullins, Beema and ddr4

I don't know, bloody Amd !!

edit as above

That's not the memory controller highlighted and I can't see any changes to the die. What's highlighted is the pads because pad = tablet, it's the only plausible explanation.

AMD said they're not willing to compete on price with Intel and ARM.

So... I can't see it being a success, they've made multiple "Tablet" chips, and none have gone anywhere from the event they've been announced at.

Comparison of the two,

Slight differences around the fch area, and display areas.

I did think the highlighted area was the memory controller and pads,
But it looks like the highlighted area is just Amd shout to promote from Bga Kabini to Socketable Kabini, and like you say jon tablet.

AMD Low Power Mullins and Mainstream Beema APU Detailed – Powered With PUMA+ x86 and GCN Cores, Launches Tomorrow

Last week, AMD made a teaser site for an upcoming product which we believe had to do something with the upcoming Mullins and Beema APU. Today, we can confirm that AMD is officially going to introduce both APU designs based on their next generation PUMA+ cores in less than 10 hours left in launch as noted from AMD’s teaser site, we thought that its time to detail some bits and pieces of AMD’s new mainstream and low-power APUs.

From the look of things it seems AMD is slowly increasing the development with the ARM side of things. Lets hope when they start releasing their custom ARM cores it can compete with the other ARM designs. Quite interesting they picked K12 as the code name... I thought they stopped the K codenames with Phenom.

On the other hand, what's happening with Steamroller's successor? AMD really does not want to compete in the high end do they :(? Guess it makes sense... tablets and smartphones does seem more profitable at the moment...
