AMD to launch Radeon RX 470 with 1792 Stream Processors?

Hmmm very strange, that was not the same website I was looked at.

http://www.xfxforce.com/en-us/Products/amd-radeon-r7-300-series#360

Surprised I never seen it before and wondered why it was not in Techpowerup GPU database and OCUK never stocked it months ago and it was very odd there was no reviews at many websites like techpowerup, guru3d, hardocp etc and nobody talked about it in forums.

I googled part number and found XFX launched it on 6 May 2016, GTX 1080 was launched on 27 May 2016.

It was really very shame that XFX 360 Low Power Edition was not wide available but it were available in very limited quantity with very few retailers and GTX 750 Ti was available everywhere in every stores and also far too late to enter market now that RX 460 is now available everywhere that AMD fans knew about it and can buy at almost same price.
I only bumped into that card by mistake when looking around for a budget graphics card for a mate. It was positioned against the similarly priced GTX750 1GB with twice the VRAM.

AMD Radeon RX 470D Gets Its First Full Review

AMD Radeon RX 470D

We have already seen few benchmarks that were posted before, only now we have proper side by side comparison with GTX 1050 Ti and RX 470.

So what’s RX 470D? It’s a new model by AMD, which will not be sold outside China. It’s a RX470/RX460 gap filler, which will cost just enough to compete with GTX 1050 Ti. But why is it China exclusive? I’m afraid there is no short answer for this, but you should know that GeForce GTX X50/X60 series are very popular in Chinese Internet cafes. By not offering any alternative, AMD would lose a lot of market share in that region.

But why should anyone buy RX470D in the first place? Well, RX470D is undoubtedly faster than 1050 Ti, as proven by this review. Plus, it’s just a little more expensive (1299 Yuans for RX470D vs 1199 Yuans for 1050Ti). However, there’s something that could convince potential buyers to choose GTX1050 Ti instead, and that’s power consumption. See charts below for details.

Ok so it is a cut down 470 as the review shows, but why seeing as it uses less power does it have a higher TDP rating than the standard 470?

Setting it lower might exclude perfectly usable dies. There is prob a large variance in quality of 470D (wrt voltage/power consumption/heat) destined dies compared to those binned to be RX470's. Also the 470D's boost is higher (marginally) but stock core voltage will be bumped up. And the memory is running faster.
