AMD Trinity prices leaked

Hilarious:

*sinp*

The top end Trinity processor which costs less than an i3 performs on average 40% better than an i7 ivybridge?

All we have to do is wait for Trinity to roll out and AMD to revise the resistor count by a couple hundred million and blame performance issues on Windows 8 compatibility problems.

I bet you now wish you didn't run your mouth off like that.

Still long away from able to game on 1920 res though. If I was to build a budget compact HTPC gaming PC, I'd still go for a Intel Sandy/Ivy dual-core and a low profile 7750 even if it cost more.

That's the unfortunate thing, the issue with gaming at these resolutions is that of memory bandwidth which will require a redesign of the memory controller, to take advantage of a point-to-point architecture (ie 1 channel per module).

The other thing that will help is that currently the GPU and CPU can't operate on the same memory space at the same time. This would really help with the bandwidth issue as data has to be read to the die via the memory controller and then into the CPU or GPU registers - if say the GPU wants to read the same thing the CPU does it then it has to be unlocked and re-read, wasting bandwidth

You say that but realistically what games are you going to be playing on HTPC?

On mine I use it for Dirt, F1, Street Fighter, Fifa, SNES Roms and maybe some old games like Physconauts basically anything that's tailor made for a control pad. Games like this don't really need anything more then what Trinity if offering and if I want to play Crysis, Battlefield 3, Witcher and Metro etc I'll use my proper desktop gaming PC.
