AMD (Trinity) route or Intel for gaming HTPC?

Dear all,

I am thinking of selling my PS3 (which I rarely use anymore) and my HTPC and build a new gaming HTPC based on Trinity. I will mainly watch HD content, browse the internet and play some split screen games like Resident Evil or sports games with friends. I want the pc to be able to play eg Fifa 13 and Resident Evil in 1080p. Is this possible with A10-5800K?
Adding later another 6670 or even a 7750 will help me? What kind of PSU would I need?

Thank you

I would go with the 5800K now, not an i3. Haswell will probably change the game though.
It will be possible to play most modern games on the 5800K yes, on low settings. With a 6670 in addition you should get decent FPS as well, providing you don't go OTT with the resolution.
A 5800K draws 100w, often up to 130 under heavy load, a 160W PSU would the minimum I would recommend, and a 300 PSU would be more than ample for a discrete card alongside your APU.

I made some initial calculations and the cost is quite high...
If I go the Intel route I need about 400-500E without a discrete VGA (i3-2120) and with the A10-5800K I am about 400E for sure...

Some more questions:

Since gaming in 1080p is something I am interested, I am leaning towards the Intel route with discrete GPU in the future. I have come across the Celeron G530 which seems a great value. Would this CPU and its HD graphics be enough for HD playpack (1080p)?
If I add later a discrete GPU, would I also be able to play games at 1080p?

I see you got two threads going...anyway:
Just a thought:

A10 5800K = £95 (Capable of acceptable gaming up to 1680 res)
vs
Pentium G640 SandyBridge dual-core 2.80GHz = £50
+
2nd hand HD6850/5850/GTX460 1GB = £50~£55 = total £100~£105 (Capable of acceptable gaming up to 1920 res)
