AMD upgrade for around £200 - suggestions?

Not all software recognizes amd fx6*** as being 6 cores some only use 3

I think you will find that some applications only REPORT three cores but that they are treated the same as Intel processors with Hyperthreading; for Intel four threads will run on two physical cores. The AMD runs 6 threads on 3 physical cores.

The main difference is that the AMD CPU has 6 arithmetic units but only 3 floating point units.

Up and running and all good initially, but there seems to be an issue with USB and x64 versions of Linux.

So far I have only booted from a Linux DVD to test that everything is working.

Anyone else encountered this problem?

Just looking way back to see when I upgraded this system and how much I paid.
I don't seem to be able to find an equivalent budget bundle on this site at the moment.
Have prices gone up by around four times since 2016 or am I missing something?

This system is still working, but has occasional power down glitched.
I'm not sure if it is the PSU, the motherboard, or wandering fairies.
Hence once again looking for potential upgrades.

Does it still do everything you need it to ?
