OK i have been waiting for bulldozers and now am bored and i would probable never use it to it potential so al go for a phenom upgrade.

night now am running...

MSI 870-C45 motherboard.
Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB)
AMD Phenom II X2 560
Nvidia GTX 260

i will be upgrading all parts over the next 2 months, i am not a massive gamer but would like a cpu that is a balance of - gaming power / general day to day use / bang for buck.

i have not been hearing good things about the new Llano chips witch is way i am thinking stick to phenom what your views?

Amd 955 black edition, This is what i'm currently using can be bought for £70 and it's extremely bang for buck.

+1

I have had one for quite some time, they usually clock really good too i use 3.8Ghz for 24/7 use. The C3 stepping (which you should get if you bought one now new) run a lot cooler and require a lot less volts to reach higher Ghz

yes it was running as a tri core but very unstable.

what are the Llano chips like they look cheap
also the 1055t looks good for £113

I have used a 1055T from release and it has been a reliable stable CPU. It cost me about £152 18 months or so ago. I use a 3.5GHz 24/7 OC with a 250MHz bus clock. The multi is locked so that is the only way to OC it. I did take it to 3.8Ghz but decided to run it cooler as I like the silence. TRUE air cooler 120mm fan.

For gaming, the 965BE quad would probably clock higher with decent air cooling.

Both would give decent bang for buck and would not limit your GPU. If you are keeping your mobo and it will take a 125w TDP these would be a cheapish upgrade.

Bigjimmyauk I'm at 3.61ghz at 1.472V was wondering If i can push it any more. It's max temp is about 60-62 Degrees after 40 minutes on prime95. On air.

I used a thermolab baram then switched to a NH-D14 my temps very rarely exceed 50 degrees in the summer and mid 40's in the winter.

Have you upped the voltage on the NB at all as you usually need a little to make it stable at lower voltage. Given some tweaking you could probably get 1.42-1.45 volts and also gain a couple of hundred Mhz in the process.

What CPU cooler do you have
