AMD v Intel build

i upgraded to i5 3570k @ 4.4 ghz now

kept same card .

i did a few benchies to see what difference is for real not synthetic benchmark sites and in some games the boost is nearly double. obviously in some where the cpu isnt needed as much there isnt a great difference.

thing is in some games say fps was similar its not just that say bf3 for eg probably 5 -10 fps difference but it feels a lot more snappier . reg seems better bullets seem to zip through people easier.

theres enough of us on here to do our own benchmarks of popular games and i dont know why we dont do a proper like set of games and every one take part. would be very useful.

Haven't bothered updating from my Q9550 (currently at 4GHz on my gaming rig) even with GTX470 SLI and a good clock on the cards its rarely a bottleneck except in a very few CPU heavy games. I'd only really bother personally if I was moving onto GTX670/680 SLI or the 690 or maybe when the next generation of GPUs are released.
Made the "upgrade" lately from a 4.2ghz i7 920. now on a 3570k (no ht) had gtx 470's in the 920, then bought the 670 wf, luckily it is a brilliant overclocker. But i havent noticed any difference in games whatsoever between the two cpu's. Yes the 920 gave better results in cpu and physx on 3dm11 due to ht. Gtx 470's are fantastic cards, they oc with ease, 750 on the core is a standard clock on stock volts, unless you get an extremely bad example of the breed. Imagine if the 400 series had 2gb of ram onboard, theyd have been great. Yes, they ran a bit hot and loud, but the overclocking headroom they had was astonishing. Iirc, i clocked my two gigabytes to 820mhz on the highest voltage that afterburner would allow, stock air cooling. They passed multiple heaven runs with ease. Just a pity they were so loud and power hungry.

The GTX 470/80s are very good cards that can handle a lot of heat and power. Having said that how on earth did nvidia make such a screw up of the GTX 590s. I have a pair of GTX 590s in system that get nervous even when I start ocing my other cards.

How could the GTX 480 and GTX 590 even come from the same family (Fermi).
