AMD vs Intel in 64 bit.

To be fair, you have, at best, been using RC1 and beta drivers. More likely, beta 2 and beta drivers.

I'm sure the gold code will be thoroughly bug tested and free from security holes :D

Thanks , but i know what i am using it is a final release, the fact i got it through MS themselves makes me a little more sure of that fact, i was at Vista Release day at Thames Valley Park MS Complex. Yes i have been using beta drivers for some things, but full MS drivers for others.
Please dont insult my intelligence.

I have to say that I'm really pleasantly suprised at this. If I were the Guv' at AMD I would wait until most of us are using 64bit OS's (shouldn't be long now) and pull the rug from under Intel by hiking the license price or withdrawing it completely.

They cant, intel have the rights to the technology because of cross licensing agreements forged between AMD and Intel over the battles in the 80's.

AMD would be in trouble if they tried to pull the license anyway, SSE 1/2/3/4 are all intel based, AMD used the cross license agreement to get it. The AMD/Intel cross license is very broad, it doesnt mean that either company can directly steal each others technologies, its not like AMD could just start pumping out Conroes... But it allows each company to have access to vital documents describing how things work, its then up to them to decide how to implement it in silicon.
