AMD vs Intel

No, irregardless of price the i5 is still the better gaming cpu. As long as you're using one graphics card.

Thanks for that graph.

I see what you mean ; if you have any games however that are cpu intensive then i7 seems to be better. What do you think?

Like i say thanks again - I didn't realise that the i5 had the advantage that you showed.

EDIT: the way I see it at high res you aren't going to see any difference as gpu will be your bottleneck plus if have CPU intensive games the I7 will creep ahead. Plus you have the option of going crossfire with full 16x lanes. So if you have the money then i7 is the way to go.

Long term plan is crossfire so maybe go with the i7

From what i've got from the thread and from what i know:

there isn't much frame difference on that graph and at high res you aren't going to see any difference as gpu will be your bottleneck plus if have CPU intensive games the I7 will creep ahead. You also have the option of going crossfire with full 16x lanes. So if you have the money then i7 is the way to go.

If you don't want to pay the extra then i5 is good too. I just like to have the best I think:p If I did it myself.
