AMD x2 6000+ issues

When i play games on my computer, it gives different colour screens after a while. Some times just completely blue, or black.

I've managed to work out, that my graphics card isn't overheating when i play games like crysis, but i think my CPU is. Could it be the voltages are too high - what voltage should they be at, and how do i check? I don't want it oc-ed, i just want it at stock levels.

I wouldn't have thought it would be the CPU, it'll either be a driver issue, or a problem with you GPU. Post up a couple of screenshots of the problem, along with the PCs spec

Does sound like a faulty gpu, can you test the gpu in another system or test another in your system.

What are your full specs.

Crysis, even f2p mmo's with low requirements. I can't test the GPU in another system, and I don't have another GPU to test in mine .

Okay, CPU temps just before crash, are 60 degrees on both cores. GPU temps are about 54 degrees.

My rig is:
Antec 900 case
AMD 64 X2 6000+ Processor at 3.11 ghz
Two 4850's in CF
4gb ram
gigabit mobo
vista home premium 32 bit

Couple of things...

you tried switching the cards around, and are you overclocking in CCC?

If so it might be that your psu is powerful enough

I did something that seemingly stopped the problem. I checked some AMD processor forums, and they said that when i turn on something like crysis, the voltages went too high. Which i saw myself - my voltages were hitting 1.45 volts, and with stock fans, that was pushing the temp too far - my cpu has a limit of 63 degrees. I suppose that's what caused it to crash and do that crap.

So, I looked up on a few sites what the stock voltage of my CPU was supposed to be, and it was about 1.35v. So I set it to that in the mobo, and I've been fine since.

Ah, ok good that you have solved the problem. I take it you had cool and quiet running or something like that? I have the hotter 125W version of the 6000X2 and with 1.45 @ 3.2Ghz the stock heatpiped cooler could just cool when going to whack.

It started happening again.

But I'm running windows 7 now. Is it likely that Windows 7 was the cause of the problem, due to driver incompatability or anything? Because after i fixed it first time, It didn't happen on vista.

I think that Win7 and Vista use Cool 'n quiet natively, without needing to be set to it in windows. You may have to disable it in bios.
It's a pity, because cool n quiet saves quite tremendous amounts of power but stabilty > all.
Have you tried contacting AMD and just telling them the truth - with cool n quiet enabled your CPU overheats ? They may be willing to try and help. Anyways, good luck.

You're right, cool and quiet is a nice idea, but it's just too hot for stock coolers IMO. I mean, you could say get a new cooler/heatsink, but surely the stock cooler should be able to handle it's own tech?
