Simple quick question. If your only interest for performance is games.. is it really worth getting a x2 or would ppl just rec getting a amd64 4000. Dont really want to shell out £400 for a processor thats the same speed as a 4000 for games.

Can anyone point me out a review of the X2's that has been done in the last couple of months rather than when they just first came out. Want to see if the muti cpu support has made any difference to all these reviewers stats.

If you only game then perhaps its not the chip for you. Some games have dual core support and more will do so in the future. Its up to you whether or not you do the upgrade now or later. I have a dual core but I also do video editing etc. Imo its worth it.

Well the 4400+ and the 4000+ both have a stock 2.4Ghz speed, so in single thread apps theyd perform the same, but in multi thread apps the 4400+ would be quicker.

EDIT : Actually i think the 4400+ is only 2.2Ghz, i may be wrong

Yep X2 is 2.2 GHz but you wouldnt really notice much difference in games designed for single cores. However Q4 gets arround 60-75% increase in performance using the dual core patch over the same single core speed & likely other games in future will be similar. This is of course more pronounced when using a higher end GPU.

I'd buy the 4400+, overclock it to 2.4Ghz (which it will do easily with the stock cooler) then essentially you have two 4000+'s in one chip and have great gaming performance and the advantage of dual cores.
