AMD’s GPU and CPU Market Share Reported to Fall Further in Q1 2016 – Polaris and Zen To Change Trend

Unless they go bump within 2 years and drivers go bye-bye ;) :D :p

I truly can't shake the feeling that they're ****ed. Might not be today, nor tomorrow, but within the next few years...

Mainly due to LtMatt's massive salary of course :D

edit - Anyone here miss the old Lieutenant?? I missed that old ****-taking dude who gave as good as he got ;) :D

I'll make that choice if that time happened!

Even if AMD do go bankrupt, their IP, patents etc are still extremely valuable/desirable. They will be bought out, and most likely the purchasing company will continue to make GPU's and thus drivers.

I'm sure that particular issue will be at the top of said purchaser's agenda ;)

edit - I'm sure a company the size of Samsung will realise the futility of battling a company the size/market share of nVidia and divert the resources elsewhere (ie Mobile). They have to understand that the odds are pretty overwhelming!!

I don't think so.
2016-2017 can be the way up again. Polaris so far looking good and on track - while NV is just goofing around waving maxwell, and not giving any information.
Zen sounds also promising, and finally it will have a chance to deliver, as they almost cought up to intel in node size (have to admit its hard to compete agaons 10/14nm cpus while you are still on 28nm).

They still need better marketing to sell good numbers, as NV marketing is close to what Apple has...guys are waiting for the next card with sweaty palms...because nowadays NV is the cool brand.

I'll be buying whatever side has the best card and features i need for the price, I'm not going to lock myself into buying one side or other till they are released

Same as that. Not sure what I can scrape together this year, if any but if there is a decent jump over my TX from AMD or NVidia, I will buy what offers me what I need from either camp.

LMAO people are so gullible to Wccftech level slow news day clickbait articles. Last JPR showed AMD selling 6% more desktop cards and Nvidia dropping 7% FFS in Q4 2015.

What's the bet if AMD realises Polaris a few months early and gains some marketshare back, that you would get articles saying Nvidia RELATIVE sales lowest for like a year,Nvidia is doooooomed articles.

Nvidia releases Pascal and has better sales and is back to AMD is doomed articles.

Noticed when there are actual launches you get far less of these articles?;)

People should worry more about the nearly two trillion pound this debt this country is in! A far more worrying prospect long-term for all of us here.

Plus I think it's time we start our own crowd funded clickbait site so we can rack in the ad dollars - maybe we can a few upgrades out of it?

:p

I'm personally hoping that Samsung buy their GPU division. I imagine Samsung would love to bring the battle to NVIDIA :)

Me too, it would be nice to have a choice again.

I wish I had a liquid lunch today, no such luck.

I had some personal news earlier, and there's more to life than who has the best gpu etc. It's completely irrelevant for me right now.

I remember folks talking excitedly about the 300 series as they bought up falling AMD share prices. Let's hope Polaris isn't the 300 series all over again. Please no more rebrands. Buy shares if one is confident Polaris will kick ass, which I'm sure it will in some capacity.

Correct.

Knowing I am not the most popular here, I really appreciate that, thanks.

To be fair lambchop some of your post did manage to some what annoy me in the past :D but i do know these forums would be bit more boring without you. Even still i wouldn't wish anything bad on you despite your opinions and thoughts on these forums lol. Same for anyone else really. And no probs, take it easy man!
