American Airlines CRJ700 crash in DC

I'm going to make a wholly uninformed statement and say something is sus about the Army chopper.

Sad news, you'd think with modern gps systems these kind of collisions would be largely impossible.

very sad , seen the footage and the helicopter seems to head straight for the plane

I was only thinking last weekend about how unlikely that air collision in Breaking Bad would be in real life, and now a chopper pilot has gone and proved me wrong, albeit not at cruise speed by the looks of it

They fly over DC all the time. There are standardised route maps available to view.

Was the plane not on final approach though according to reports? The glide slope doesn’t seem like a great place for the helicopter to be. Strange the helicopter didn’t respond to ATC.

Early reports make it sound like it could be potentially deliberate?*

That would definitely be odd being a military helicopter

* Guy on news saying the Heli took off, had 6 course changes climbed 150 ft and hit plane.

has there been been any survivors?

it seems extremely odd that the heli was in the path of a landing plane and that the Hpilots didn’t see it/change course.
