American move.. what would you do with your hardware?

the problem i found with a plug adapter is that not everything would work right with that, so getting the actual power adapter would make sure it'd work... (can usually get them via hong kong on ebay for buttons!)

oh yeah, forgot the yanks use the wrong voltage :p

I would say selling off the system/parts before moving to US would make more sense, considering hardware prices over at US is dirt cheap comparing to rip-off Britain. But of course, you should keep the HDD.

Ok cool. Think I will sell my components and then buy fresh kit out there :-) HDDs definately staying with me though unless i can get a reliable travel drive. prob need at least 500gb for one that wont break in transit.

Does this mean if we ask nicely we can get parts shipped over from the US? :)

Also you said you likely wont move until April? But you'll be selling your stuff around October time? What will you do for the other 6-7 months?

You could get the new U2412M for half the price it is expected to go over here.

399.00 U.S. dollars = 243.679003 British pounds

Damn that's good.

Sell it a buy new tech over there. It's quite a bit cheaper over there so you'll get ore for your money :).

Nah I'm doing the exact same thing as the OP (waiting on fiance visa) and I worked out the cost of selling and replacing my PC in the USA was about £600 whereas shipping works out at about £200.

OP I'd take the PC apart, ship all the components to yourself as a gift (insure them too) and buy a new case in the US (the heavy part).

Hmm.. nice price and nice monitor!

Hmm... no way I can ship as personal items? (i.e. avoiding ridiculous import tax for my own stuff)
