Hi,

I want to book a table at a traditional southern American dinner for a couple of weeks time.

We're talking mac and cheese, bulled pork, ribs...

Where would you guys recommend? I've been to Bodean's it was incredible, I'm up for something new though.

Thanks!

Pitt Cue is definitely the place, just a pity it's so small and doesn't take bookings. I work around the corner and for that reason I've still not been! :(

What's the queue normally like then? it looks very small from the pictures.

I've been and queued. I got there 30 minutes before it opened, and was the last person in to be able to get a table :). It's popular for a reason. I've been to Bodeans many times and enjoyed it, but the food doesn't really compare to the quality at Pit Cue. Of course, Bodeans has more seats and you can book.

Another recommendation for Bodeans Tower Hill, great food and good potions. Good atmosphere too. Was well stuffed!!!!! :)

I heard it wasn't too great from some people in the office.

I love Bodeans, one of my favorite restaurants in London.

I love Bodeans as well. Normally I wouldn't be so fussy but I'm going with my wife who's from North Carolina so she's she a bit of an expert.

Bodeons i thought was average, all a bit dry really. Ive been a number of times too

http://www.southern11.co.uk/ - Very good, love the meat platter

http://almostfamousburgers.com/ - Not been yet but everyone who i know has gone have said the burgers are out of this world, check the pics on twitter

http://www.solita.co.uk/ - been twice now, burgers are amazing especially the big manc

With the exception of Southern 11, none of those are really what the OP is looking for, the rest aren't in London

It should probably be Pitt Cue then :p

Bodeans is geat but the quality of food isn't astounding. I used to live in the US (nowhere near the home of BBQ/Southern food etc.!) and I'd say Bodeans is just on par with your generic American comfort food/ribs/meat joint. That is not to say it's bad though!

Maybe plan to queue at Pitt Cue, but book a table at Bodeons for later in the evening. i.e. if you're still not into PQ after 2hrs of waiting you can abandon and go to Bodeans? :p They're only a 5min walk from each other.

Completely agree. As nice as Bodeans is for beer and ribs, it's not somewhere I'd take someone who knows their southern food.
