Amiga Emulators

I am not sure if this is deemed as illegal activity as it is dead tech, if it is feel free to delete this thread mods

I am looking for a descent amiga emulator (there are loads so i was wondering which ones people had best experiences with) so i can play some old games i have been wanting to complete, I have an old amiga 1200 but the port is broken on the back, and it looks truely awful on my tv. As such it would be great if the emulator/something i can add on supported upscaling of some kind.

Also is it possible to get an emulator that plays the original disks? or do you have to download them?

amiga emulators, as such, are 100% legal providing you visit Amiga Forever and buy the roms http://www.amigaforever.com/windows/

they are fully licenced distributors of the amiga kickstart rooms which are needed to run the emulators. on their website you will also find links to games that have been made available for free download by the publishers such as dream17 http://www.dream17.co.uk/ . alien breed baby :cool:

asking for games that havent been made available by the publisher is strictly a no-no as its illegal and cant be spoken about on these forums. enjoy

So ironic. A thread that was started on here a few days ago made me dig out the Amiga Emulator as well - just been playing "It came from the desert"

It's the one that Amiga Forever uses (though Amiga Forever is usually outdated). You do need the ROM's and Workbench disks both you can legally transfer over to the PC if you have an Amiga there (bynull-modem cable with a program called transrom and transdisk).

I have mine setup in a tower next to me so no need for emulators...

Amazing in this day and age of all the fancy graphics etc,

that so many of us yearn for the old stuff that we remember so fondly.

Well there's lots of reasons for that.

With the advent of the internet getting hold of those hard to find games is now much easier. The hardware prices have plummeted and the gameplay is still the same.

You can have the best looking games in the World but if they play like dogs then you won't be playing for long - there's only so many times you can go 'it looks good'. I'd much rather play some of the Amiga games to Crysis for example (Turrican 2 / Speedball 2 / Kick Off 2 / SWoS / Dungeon Master / etc).

Aye, thing is(this has been mentioned many times before im sure) these days its all graphics graphics graphics, they forget about the actual gameplay unlike the oldies

Yeah Amiga ems rock.

Im running Amithon OS 3.9 atm getting 900 MIPS, my orig 040 only got 40MIPS, lol.

At last I can now play Doom on an Amiga

i stumbled across some TOSEC archive of 20.000 amiga roms . its a 3gb file which extracts to 17 gb. and contains pretty much all games and their variables ever made.

i say all variables as the project archives the original releases plus the pirated versions too, i.e paradox releases etc.

i use winuae with the roms. i end up just playing ghosts and goblins and r type . classic games.
